Julie Wodarz – Kindergarten Teacher
Personal Biography
Hi, My name is Julie Wodarz and I teach Kindergarten. I grew up on a farm in Kieler, where my brother is the third generation to run the homestead. My husband Wayne and I live in Platteville. We have a daughter, Makayla. Wayne, Makayla and I belong to St. Mary’s. We are active in the daily affairs of the Parish in a variety of ways and volunteer much time to the church and school. In my free time I enjoy reading, scrap booking, family and friends. Someday I would love to do some traveling.
Education: My grade school and high school education were at Catholic Schools, Immaculate Conception in Kieler (Fun Fact, Mrs. Wedig was my 8th grade teacher) and Wahlert High School, in Dubuque. I went on and graduated from UW-Platteville with a BS degree in Preschool to 6th grade education.
Employment: My first year of teaching was at S.S. Andrew-Thomas in Potosi teaching 2nd grade. I then went back to teach at my hometown parish where I taught First Grade for 13 years. I’ve been blessed to teach Kindergarten at St. Mary’s since 2001.
Why I teach? As long as I can remember I wanted to teach and teach at my home town. I was blessed with both. Now I’m able to teach at St. Mary’s and watch my daughter have the experience of a Catholic education as I did. The little ones I touch each day give me the satisfaction of my calling to teach. I’m able to share my faith with them and that gives me great pleasure.
