Delores (Dee) Woolf – 1st Grade Teacher
Personal Biography
I am the oldest of 11 children of Gilbert and Irene Tranel of Menominee, Illinois and later of Dubuque, Iowa. My husband, Terry Woolf, and I were married on November 25, 1971. I quickly became involved in the Platteville Community both at St. Mary Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. During the early years of our marriage we farmed part-time with my husband’s parents. This, along with the births of our three children, kept us quite involved with others. During this time I took graduate classes at U.W. Platteville. Once the children were in School, I became a Cub Scout leader and am still very active in this very worthwhile youth formation program.
Education: I attended Nativity B.V.M. Menominee Catholic School for eight years and was an active member of the youth group. Following Grade School I attended and graduated from St. Clara Academy at Sinsinawa, Wisconsin. After High School graduation I went to Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa and majored in Elementary Education and Classical Languages. In addition, I took graduate classes at U.W. Platteville as well as Forem Credits.
Employment: I have been teaching at St. Mary School since 1971. While attending Clarke College, I student taught at Eisenhower School in Dubuque, Iowa in Mrs. Merit’s third grade room. During this time I also tutored grade school students and worked with the underprivileged in the community. I also worked for four years at the Clarke College Library where my special love of books and reading was put to good use.
Why I teach? My goal as a teacher, whether it is in the classroom at St. Mary School, teaching a religious education class or cub scouts, is to provide the best experience for the individual child. Our Lord Jesus Christ certainly gave us a great role model to follow in this area.
