Personal Biography

I am the third of 8 children born to Dan and Mary Kay Donar of Menominee, Illinois. I have two older brothers, Scott and Chris; two younger sisters Wanda and Marie; and three younger brothers, Jesse, Travis and Kyle. I grew up on the family dairy farm. We also raised beef cattle, chickens, goats, sheep, hogs and horses. There were a lot of chores! I currently reside in Platteville and have a two-year old son, Tristan and four-year old son, Dylan. My kids are always with me at school after hours and I love that my students know them by their first names!

Education: I am a lifelong product of Catholic education. I attended Nativity B.V.M. (Menominee, IL) for grades 1-8, Wahlert High School (DBQ, IA) for 9-12 and finished at Clarke College (DBQ, IA) where I received my BA in Elementary Education.

Employment: I was blessed to immediately begin work at East Dubuque Elementary as a computer aide. I knew I wanted to be in a regular classroom and was hired the following year at St. Mary’s in East Dubuque. There I taught 5-8 Math, and 5-6 Music, Gym, Science, Social Studies, Religion, Language, Spelling and Art for two years. Following that, I obtained my current position at St. Mary’s in Platteville in 2001.

Why I teach?  One of the most important goals in helping a child build a positive self-image is that the adults in their world assist them in becoming more responsible and resourceful. With God in our corner, we can accomplish great things with our children and for the generations that follow them at St. Mary’s, in the community of Platteville and the entire world.
